After 2 years at Tell-Em, Huawei Devices account moves to Media Edge

Chinese IT firm Huawei has moved its Devices (or Products PR account) from Tell-Em PR after 2 years of partnership and moved to rival Media Edge, part of the Redhouse Group.

Tell-Em has been handling the Huawei Devices account since early 2015, reaching out to the media as well as blogger community whenever the client had a new product to introduce to the market. Just recently Tell-Em handled media on behalf of Huawei Devices division during the launch of the Huawei GR5 2017 smartphone in Kenya on February 22.

Media Edge will now handle Huawei Devices while the Corporate PR side is managed by Oxygene, which got the account sometimes around October last year and also doubles up as the Corporate PR agency for Safaricom having signed up the telco as a client in September 2016.

Interesting though is the fact that Redhouse Group – which owns Media Edge – also counts LG Electronics among its clients. This is because LG Electronics has a business unit which manufactures mobile devices, and is therefore a direct competitor with Huawei Devices. It will be interesting seeing how Redhouse as a group handles the two clients who both compete in the mobile devices market.

Apart from LG, other Redhouse Group clients include Telkom Kenya, Konza Technopolis, Kenya Airways and NIC Bank.
