Visura to award $5,000 to winning photo essay project, entry deadline is April 3




Visura, a platform which connects creatives and buyers worldwide, has announced The 2017 Visura Grant which aims to support the production and development of a personal photography project.

Visura awards one winner with a US $5000 cash prize while other photographers who take part in the contest are recognized with various levels of recognition from finalist to honorable mention.

Visura began accepting submissions from February 16th and the application submission window closes on April 3, 2017.

The Visura Grant has a three main objectives – that is to support a personal project that brings awareness to a socio-cultural and/or political cause relevant to today’s world; recognize photographers for their images, stories, and dedication; and finally to present to key industry editors photographers’ personal project(s).

Former Grant winners are: Justin Maxon, Erin Trieb, Andrea Gjestvang, Javad Parsa, Álvaro Laíz, and Franceso Anselmi.

Applications can be submitted online.

The judging panel will consist of Scott Thode, Visura’s Editorial Director; Yukiko Yamagata, Acting Interim Director at the The Open Society Foundations Documentary Photography Project; Gina Martin, Managing Account Executive Editorial Sales, International at National Geographic; and Michael D Davis, The Alexia Tsairis Chair for Documentary Photography at The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
