Guo Ping takes over from Ken Hu as Huawei’s rotating CEO




Guo Ping has been appointed as the Rotating and Acting CEO of Huawei from April 1, 2017 to September 30, 2017, according to the Chinese firm’s Rotating CEO system.

The Rotating and Acting CEO acts as the primary person of the company’s operations and crisis management during his tenure, and is responsible for convening and chairing the meetings of Board of Directors’ Executive Committee and the company’s Executive Management Team.

Born in 1966, Guo holds a master’s degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Mr. Guo joined Huawei in 1988 and has served as an R&D project manager, General Manager of Supply Chain, Director of Huawei Executive Office, Chief Legal Officer, President of the Business Process & IT Mgmt Dept, President of the Corporate Development Dept, Chairman and President of Huawei Device, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Rotating CEO, and Chairman of the Finance Committee.

The new CEO takes over from Ken Hu who has been the acting CEO from April 1st 2016 to September 30th 2016. The outgoing Rotating CEO was the Deputy Chairman of Huawei Technologies and a member of Huawei’s Board of Directors and Executive Management Team (EMT) and also Chairman of Huawei USA.

As Deputy Chairman, Hu is head of Huawei’s Human Resources Committee and is responsible for the company’s leadership and organizational development. He is also the head of the company’s Global Cyber Security Committee, which oversees the development of Huawei’s global cyber security strategies and the establishment of an end-to-end cyber security assurance system.
