After Safaricom in Kenya, Econet extends Kwesé TV deal to Ghana’s MTN and Tigo




After signing a deal with Kenya’s Safaricom to deliver its Kwesé TV video content to the telco’s subscribers, Econet Media has now moved to West Africa where it has announced a similar partnership with two MNOs in Ghana, that is MTN and Tigo.

MTN and Tigo subscribers will be able to access Kwesé TV’s on their mobile phones and tablets. Customers will have access to English Premier League games, NBA basketball matches, athletics, and a range of local and international entertainment content, including the popular Revolt music channel, exclusive to Kwesé.

Commenting on the collaboration, Tara Squire, Tigo Ghana’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “The partnership with Kwesé TV provides unique video content for Ghanaians, who will benefit from the improved data speed and increased capacity on our network to enjoy live and on-demand viewing. This is also in line with Tigo’s focus on delivering high-quality experiences for our customers and as part of our digital lifestyle strategy.”

 

MTN Ghana subscribers will also be able to stream, using the telco’s 4G LTE network, Kwesé TV programming including live action from the NBA, English Premier League, Brazilian soccer and other sports leagues, as well as first-to-market entertainment programming from the likes of Revolt and VICELAND.

For Tigo subscribers, Kwesé TV subscription will be accessible in the market in the coming months through Tigo video data packages and Tigo Cash while MTN clients should expect Kwesé TV offerings in the coming months through MTN video packages.
