
Sthembile Shabangu has replaced Abey Tau as the Africa head of PR and CSR for Samsung Electronics. Ms Shabangu took over from Tau who was Samsung Africa’s CSR manager from January 2015 till January this year when he moved to Sasol as Head of the energy and chemical firm’s Global Foundation Community Development Programmes.
Tau joined Samsung from Microsoft where he had held various positions from January 2009. He joined the software maker as a the CSR Coordinator for Africa and the Middle East region, working from the Istanbul office in Turkey and rose to become the Community Affairs Manager for South Africa, a position which now enabled him to move back to his home country of South Africa.

From her LinkedIn profile, Shabangu joined Samsung in June 2015 as the PR and Corporate Affairs lead for Africa. It looks like the CSR portfolio was added to her docket early this following the departure of Abey Tau. Before moving to Samsung, she held various communications roles at Anglo Platinum from July 2013 till May 2015.
Shabangu also has agency experience gained at Ogilvy & Mather as the Account Director handling the KFC account from early to mid 2000’s.
