
As the mobile handset market continues to get competitive in the country, OPPO has made another stab at the
Kenyan smartphone market with a new device, OPPO A83.
Inspired by the previous models launched in the country, the OPPO A83 is embedded with a 5.7” Full Screen and artificial intelligence (AI) beauty recognition technology to provide a more customized and natural selfie experience for its targeted youthful customers.

James Irungu, OPPO Kenya PR and Communications Manager, highlighted in a statement that the device gives OPPO an opportunity to reach out to consumers’ in the mass market segment who are looking for a device that offers functionality and an outstanding design at an affordable price.
“We have received an immense response for our Selfie Expert and Leader F Series. The design, price and performance of this device will enable OPPO maintain market leadership in the midst of growing competition in this segment, this is part of the plan to start the year in style,” said Irungu.
The device has an array of features including a 7.6mm unibody design; a 3GB RAM that can store memory of up to 32GB expandable to 256GB using an SD card and a 3180mAH battery that delivers a full day usage.
The new device comes in a more premium body with a curved back, reduced bezel and minimal camera protrusion.
The company is looking to make their latest A83 smartphone this generation’s Selfie Expert. It sports an 8MP front camera and a 13MP camera on the rear to take advantage of the AI technology. This allows the smartphone to automatically improve the customer’s selfies and photos.
The OPPO A83, which also features a 18:9 aspect ratio and 1440×720 resolution, is also equipped with face unlock.
It retails for Kshs 23,490.
