After more than three years at Internet Solutions Kenya, Emily Kinuthia moves to NIC Bank

Emily Kinuthia, who has been the head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Internet Solutions Kenya, has left the IT firm and made a move – back – to the banking industry by joining NIC Bank in a similar capacity.

Apparently, Ms Kinuthia, who joined Internet Solutions Kenya in August 2014, formally left at the end of last year and was no longer part of the firm during its brand relaunch which officially marked the change of the corporate identity from ‘Access Kenya’ to ‘Internet Solutions Kenya’, part of South Africa-based Internet Solutions.

Following her departure, her former employer Internet Solutions Kenya put out an announcement seeking applicants for the Head of Marketing position over two weeks ago. The deadline for the application was February 9, 2018.

Although she’s yet to update her professional profile to reflect the move to NIC, it seems – from her Twitter posts – that she joined the bank in either late January or early this month. From February, most of the posts are related to NIC.

Ms Kinuthia, who possesses a “wealth of experience in marketing communication strategy development, brand building and consumer insight mining”, was until late 2014 the business head of Scanad, a position that gave her the overall leadership of the Safaricom business, managing all marketing communication requirements for the telco’s different products.

Prior to Scanad, she was the head of marketing at Diamond Trust Bank (DTB), a position she held for one year. Remember the intro to the post stating that she’d made a move – back – to the banking industry?

At DTB, Kinuthia was responsible for the promotion and marketing of all the bank’s products and services, overseeing marketing and communication requirements for regional offices – including Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi. She’s also in charge of overall coordination of the relationship between the bank and the respective Advertising, PR and Digital agencies.
