The global soccer extravaganza which comes up every 4 years, the FIFA World Cup, is set to begin on Thursday June 14, 2018, that’s exactly a month from now. Even though Kenya didn’t qualify, we still have many fans with favourite teams from outside the country whose performance they’d like very much to follow during the one-month tournament.
For most of the marches, I’m sure most of the soccer fans will congregate at their local pubs to follow the games on the big screen TVs mounted on walls. But it’s impossible to be present in pubs for over 20-plus days in a row following the World Cup matches. That’s why it’s important to have not just your own TV in the household, but payTV subscription as well, to enable you enjoy the matches from the comfort of your own sitting room.
And here is where Jumia comes in. For working in partnership with Kwese, the payTV platform, Jumia has announced that its customers will get a chance to stream matches during World Cup for free following a partnership between the two firms.
As part of the deal with Kwese, Jumia sports fanatics will get 30 days of free subscription on decoders bought on Jumia for the World Cup season. Fans will also enjoy pay-as-you-watch service segmented into packages of 3 days, 7 days or 30 days; accessible through the multi-platform sign up on five different devices.
Kwese decoders will also retail on Jumia for Kshs 2,499 down from Kshs 4,990 during the World Cup season, in a bid to bring people together through sports and ensure that no one is left out from the experience which comes only after 4 years.
“We’re very pleased to once again deliver on Jumia’s promise of being the first with the latest and the best. We are confident that our customers will have the best to choose from with Jumia as their TV destination, especially during the World Cup season,” said Sam Chappatte, MD, Jumia Kenya.
Jumia, the online retailer, announced the two partnerships as it gears up for the upcoming campaign dubbed TV Mania during which customers will be able to purchase all TV’s and audio accessories with up to 40% in discounts.
In a unique market entry strategy, Vision Plus will sell Smart TV’s exclusively on Jumia for a period of one month before hitting retail stores countrywide. The brand is looking at Kenya as a gateway into the East African market, marking an important milestone towards market expansion across the continent.
“We are equally excited to bring you all the 64 matches live and in HD through our Kwesé TV satellite decoder. And to ensure you do not miss a game wherever you are, Kwesé will avail all the games on up to 5 mobile devices linked to your decoder for free as long as your monthly subscription is paid up”, Kennedy Ojung’a, GM, Kwesé TV said.
Jumia will run the TV Mania campaign from May 21 to June 2, 2018, a promo that will see thousands of Kenyans own TV sets at insanely reduced prices, just days to the start of the World Cup in Russia.
Now, for a preview of what’s on offer and perhaps to budget appropriately, why not head to the TV Mania page and choose your ideal TV set, then rush and make an order when the sale begins?
