Mckend, who was previously based in Johannesburg, South Africa, now relocates to Dublin, Ireland as part of his position. Below is how he shared the transition on his LinkedIn page:
After 11 fantastic years at Google, the last 7 as Country Manager in South Africa, its time to make some changes! Google has done some phenomenal work in South Africa and the rest of Africa in the last few years and I’m proud to have been part of the team that has increased the number of Internet users in SA, and hopefully helped a few businesses make the most of their investment in digital over the last few years. Its been a privilege to work with brilliant colleagues over the years, and of course to spend time with so many fantastic clients and Agencies across Africa. Thanks to all of them. Moving from one place to the next, I’ve also been thinking about what an awesome place Johannesburg has been to live in for the last 7 years. Living in the UK it’s easy to succumb to the bad press Joburg often gets, but as with most large cities, Joburg really does reward those who get out and embrace what it has to offer. My next role starts early November in Dublin, with LinkedIn! I’ll still be working with South African clients, but also with businesses in Israel and Turkey and perhaps a few spots inbetween. So, looking forward to embracing a new city, learning a lot, and seeing a few new places! Exciting times ahead!
Prior to Google, he had served in senior positions at Stepstone, iGrasp, and TMP Worldwide.
