Like every product introduced in the market to succeed a previous version, lovers of Huawei mobile devices, especially the Y-series, must have obviously expected the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 model to be better than its predecessor, the Huawei Y9 2019. And for sure, it is an improved (and advanced) version of the previous model.
When the Huawei Y9 2019 smartphone was unveiled in the market in mid-October last year, it was the ultimate and most advanced model in the Y-series in terms of features, specs and performance, something that was also reflected in its pricing as it was retailing at Kshs 24,990.

But what the market didn’t know (and potential customers possibly couldn’t anticipate) at the time was that the best version of the Y9 was yet to come. And it has come just about six months later in the name of the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019, which retails at (about) the same price as the previous model, with just a negligible Kshs 10 difference (even though it’s the ‘Prime’ or superior version, as is also reflected in its name).
Still on similarities between the Y9 2019 and Y9 Prime 2019, both models are fitted with a 4000mAh battery and also come with 4GB of RAM. But that’s where the similarities end.
For unlike its predecessor, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 has a FullView Display with no notch or front camera at the top, meaning that the whole 6.59-inch screen has been reserved for the user for taking and viewing photos and videos, playing games or making video calls via Skype or WhatsApp. Remember the device has a 4GB RAM and therefore, the issue of speed is sorted.
Having nothing on the screen has meant that Huawei had to be innovative with the Selfie camera, which has now been hidden away at the top left of the device, only popping up when the user turns on the front camera is turned on to take a Selfie.
