Craft Silicon to release redesigned version of Little Cab app on August 13

Over three years since it was was launched to the market, the Little Cab ride-hailing app is set to undergo an overhaul and a redesigned version released to the market next week.

The Little Cab app was released by Craft Silicon in May 2016 and is active in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia, enabling them to order rides from their smartphones. Currently counting over 100,000 downloads, the current version of the app, available both for Android and iOS devices, is less than 15MB in size.

A message sent out from Little Cab this week states: “We’ve heard you! Effective 13th August 2019, Little Cab will roll out an improved and modern interface that will ease your hailing experience. Our aim is to provide comfort and convenience at your doorstep by the click of a button…”

The current version of the app, 4.5, has the ability to share one’s location; access the phone contacts (by finding accounts on the device and reading the contacts); access photos as well as other media files (with the ability to read, modify or delete the contents of one’s USB storage) and also use the device camera to take pictures and videos. The app can also access and read the device ID and call information (that is read the device phone status and identity and find accounts on the device).

When the necessary app permissions are granted, the Little Cab app can also receive data from internet; connect and disconnect from Wi-Fi; use accounts on the device; set an alarm; prevent device from sleeping and also draw over other apps; view network connections and control the device’s vibration.
