MultiChoice Kenya is looking for the ultimate television binge-watcher with a challenge that will see 8 individuals housed in a glass box and required to watch different television content for 36 hours. With no access to their mobile phones or other electronics apart from the television, the participants will not be allowed to sleep for the duration of the challenge, but meals and controlled toilet breaks will be provided in the glass box that will be placed at the National Archives.
The binge challenge has 8 participants: Hillary Lanogwa, Karanja Ng’endo, Steve Biko, Tecla Joan, Shilla Gathoni, Juma Fred, Triza iva and Yvonne Ambete. The day’s activations will begin at Luthuli Avenue, move to Machakos Country bus, then Railways Station before the contestants are finally settled into the glass house for what is expected to be a full 36-hour DStv binge. The DStv Binge Challenge will kick off at 6pm on Tuesday 3, September 2019 and end on 6am Thursday September 5, 2019.
“This evening we will have a team of 8 people walking into the glass box for the 36-hour binge watching challenge. This challenge will not only be entertaining but is also intended to demonstrate the fact that our large variety content is available to our subscribers all day, every day. You too can also get all the entertainment and 24-hour programming on DStv to keep you and your family fully entertained with over 100 channels,” said Simon Kariithi, MultiChoice Kenya GM for Commercial.
The participants will watch an assortment of DStv channels throughout the 36 hours, which they will randomly select every few hours. This is an endurance challenge where the participants will not be allowed to sleep throughout the 36 hours and those who fall asleep are eliminated. The television binge watching challenge is part of MultiChoice Kenya’s ‘Everybody is Watching’ campaign as part of the recent announcement on the reduction of subscription fees on all DStv packages beginning September 1, 2019.
MultiChoice Kenya GM for Commercial Simon Kariithi said: “From 1 September 2019, subscription costs for the satellite TV service has dropped from between 5% and 37%. This is an exciting moment for DStv as we have heeded the call to reduce our subscription prices. Our business is about value for our customers by making our packages more affordable. We have reduced the price but have added content on most of our packages for subscribers to experience the value that we offer. We are committed to delivering various ways to thank customers for their ongoing support and loyalty whilst delivering a world-class entertainment service they deserve at great value,” added Kariithi.
