
UAP Old Mutual General Business has launched new services under the medical cover to support their customers during this COVID-19 period and after. The services include – Delivery of drugs or Meds on Wheels; Tele counselling services; and Tele medicine services.
Speaking during the launch of the new services, David Kuria, the firm’s MD for General Insurance stated: “We have all been impacted by the pandemic in one way or another. As a company we realize the importance of maintaining social distance and mental health. These services are aimed at helping our customers adhere to guidelines issued by various health authorities and the Government as well as alleviate the many pressures we are facing during these uncertain times”.
The services which will be catered for by the UAP Old Mutual medical cards will work as below:
Meds on Wheels will ensure medication is delivered at the customers doorstep. This has been achieved through partnerships with various pharmacies. The customer will be required to send their prescription to UAP Old Mutual via WhatsApp or on email. UAP Old Mutual will then liaise with the pharmacies to ensure the medication is delivered to the customer. This service is currently being provided in Nairobi, with plans to expand it to the counties.
Tele counselling services will cater for mental health. Customers can easily access this service from anywhere at discounted rates via phone and online video services such as Zoom or WhatsApp video conferencing.
Tele-medicine will provide customers with a doctor’s consultation and where necessary, a prescription. The drugs will be billed to the customers card and delivered to the them at the comfort of their home. This service, which is in partnership with One Stop Pharmacy, can be accessed easily by customers through Zoom or WhatsApp video conferencing.
