Safaricom has had to temporarily close down its shop at the Thika Road Mall (TRM) after one of the telco’s staff members tested positive for Covid-19 today (Sunday May 31, 2020) morning. According to a statement from the company, the said employee is currently in isolation and receiving appropriate medical attention.
The Staff members who were working with the affected employee have been informed and are currently undergoing counseling and screening to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

Following the development the telco’s TRM shop has been closed temporarily for cleaning and sanitization.
“The health, safety and wellbeing of our staff and customers is our top most priority. We are fully supporting our affected colleagues and their families, through the recovery period by providing all necessary medical care and psychosocial support required, ensuring their wellbeing,” said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.
As an alternative, the firm’s customers have been encouraged to access services from other nearby shops, as well as through other self-service channels which include; Zuri Chatbot, MySafaricom app as well as the Interactive Voice Biometric System. The tell free customer care lines – 100 and 200 – are also available to all customers.
“Even as we take these actions, we reiterate our commitment to continue working with all stakeholders to help our nation through this crisis,” the telco added in the announcement.
