Anker smart devices now available in Kenya through Sweech online shop

Anker Innovations, a global vendor and manufacturer of charging technology products and innovators of smart devices for entertainment, travel and smart homes, has picked Kenya as its launch hub in the East African market. Anker intends to tap into Kenya’s exponential growth in use of technology and smart devices to transact businesses.

Anker products will be distributed locally through Sweech, a local online store that will be mandated to recruit other distributors throughout the country to enhance products availability. The firm – known for producing wireless chargers, car and wall chargers as well as portable alternatives – plans to exploit the country’s potential with 91% penetration of mobile subscriptions compared to Africa’s 80%.

Faraz Mehdi, Anker innovations Regional Sales Head for GCC and Africa,  said Kenya was on the right track in developing ICT infrastructure which is contributing to a paradigm shift with new innovations destroying the old ways of doing business. This has seen tremendous increase in the use of mobile phones to transact businesses.

“We are extremely excited to venture into the Kenyan market which has the highest share of internet usage through mobile phones, this mean constant charging of the phone due to high power consumption as a result this either hinders movement or business transaction due to low or no phone charge. We are therefore here purposely to ensure nothing hold you back from doing your business while on the move”, Mehdi explained.

Ammar Ganijee, Head of Operations at Sweech, said majority of smartphones users in Kenya are largely on social media sites, e-learning, accessing games, music and news. However, a substantial number are also increasingly using their phones to access essential financial products. He said this requires constant phone powering and the launch Anker products offers a sigh of relieve for many Kenyans who spend approximately 3 – 5 hours a day on social media sites.

“In Kenya, smartphones has become a necessity to life particularly during this Covid-19 pandemic period as it is also used to aid in education, especially for children. It helps in easy access to information and helpful content that assist children for more interactive learning through watching education videos and playing education programmes”, Ganijee added.

He said an aggressive countrywide campaign to establish more distributors will be in top gear to tap into the growing opportunities and launch Power Delivery technology that will be able to charge phones, tablets, and laptops at unprecedented speeds.

Other Anker products to be distributed locally include speakers, sound bars, headphones, earphones, earbuds and accessories.
