Sauti Sol’s record label Sol Generation has partnered with television producer Eugene Mbugua through his TV and documentary production company to produce a reality show titled, Sol Family.
Sol Family airs every Sunday at 7.30 pm, starting on August 2, 2020 exclusively on Maisha Magic Plus Channel 163, on Dstv Compact, Compact Plus, and also be available for streaming on Showmax. Sections of the show are also shared online on the Sol Generation TV YouTube page.
After a successful 15-year career that saw it become Africa’s leading band, the four-member Sauti Sol band decided in 2019 to form a record label Sol Generation, to impart their learnings to the next generation of musicians.
“Sol Family is a docu-reality’, a combination of two genres, reality and documentary. We’ll be taking you to the past in documentary format to understand how all the characters came to be who they are while also showing you their present, and all that’s happening with their lives,” notes Eugene Mbugua.
The series explores the lives of Polycarp Otieno; Willis Chimano; Delvin Savara; and Bien-Aime Alusa, as well as the stars of Sol Generation – Nviiri and Bensoul – and the team behind their management that makes the magic happen. The show delves deep into the music-making process as well as the elements of their personal lives that make them tick.
