Nokia C30: Perfect choice when looking for large screen display and powerful battery

Having used the Nokia G10 for over 2 weeks then moving on to try out the Nokia C30 about a week ago, I almost thought that the 2 models were similar, both in size and build. But I would later come to realize that this was not the case after spending some time with the Nokia C30.

First, and to begin with, the Nokia C30 is slightly bigger in terms of height (when placed side by side against the Nokia G10) and heavier than the Nokia G10. Remember that whereas the Nokia G10 weighs 194g, the Nokia C30 goes past the 200g mark to weigh 237g – that is over 40g more than the Nokia G10.

Anyway, this wasn’t meant to be a comparison piece between the Nokia G10 and Nokia C30 because the two devices are not even from the same series. We’ll attempt to do a better comparison article between the Nokia C30 and Nokia C10 in the next review.

Now back to the device at hand and the focus of this post, the Nokia C30.

Let me say that this device has some notable surprises in terms of build and design. Apart from its size and weight, the other surprising and interesting feature about the Nokia C30 is the removable back cover, which to me seems to be a curious feature given that the impressively large battery – 6,000mAh in capacity – is non-removable.

The removable back cover is therefore meant to enable you insert the two Nano-size SIM cards and also access the Micro SD card slot for expanding the storage capacity, (as can be seen in the photo of the Nokia C30 below).

Billed as the ‘flagship’ in the C-series, due to its more advanced features and specs – that is when compared to its other counterpart in the same series, the Nokia C10 – the Nokia C30 is meant to offer the best possible quality and functionality to the user at an introductory price point (of just Kshs 14,490).

“It’s the ultimate device for Kenyans who are ready to transition into the world of smart technology – from a brand you know and trust. More than half of smartphone users say that daily battery life is the most important battery feature for their needs. The Nokia C30 is an answer to what people have been asking for – more time between charges, more screen, our signature security and durability, and the same accessible price point,” noted Gopher Ogembo, Senior Business Manager for Kenya and East Africa at HMD Global during the launch of the device.

Huge battery:

With its 6000mAh battery, you’re assured of going for over 3 days without the need to charge the phone after running out of charge. This is particularly key considering most users of the device are likely to be those who rely on their phones for most of their business and personal activities during the day, as they don’t have the luxury of a secondary device for one reason or the other.

Apart from their daily business activities, the large 6000mAh battery in the Nokia C30 means that the user can then later in the evening wind back and go through their photos (shot during the day using the phone’s 13MP camera), watch their favourite video clips, stream their popular content (be it movies or series) via the phone’s 6.82” HD+ screen. The 6.87-inch screen can as well meet the needs of mobile gaming enthusiasts.

Large screen display:

Having mentioned above that one of the key benefits is its large screen display, let’s add here why this is important. A 2020 survey by Android Authority found that there’s an ever-increasing demand for larger screens among consumers, with 82% of device buyers looking for smartphones with between 6-inch and 7-inch in screen size, with the demand expected to grow to 96% by 2025 (that is according to IDC’s Smartphone Market Update for the fourth quarter of 2020).

As per this survey, the huge 6.82-inch HD+ display on the Nokia C30 thereby meets the consumers’ expectation and demand in as far as screen size goes.

Colour variants:

The Nokia C30 is available in mobile retail stores in Green and White variants in 2/32GB, and 3/64GB configurations.
