
Kenya’s leading local content channels, Maisha Magic East and Maisha Magic Plus, have the best Kenyan shows with top local stars in the country. From the downright hilarious to the deeply emotional, the channels are continuously delivering show-stopping content to keep the whole nation glued to their screens. These shows have proven their popularity in this year’s Kalasha Award nominations topping the categories in the TV category with nominations in five categories reaffirming their position as Kenya’s best storyteller.

Daudi Anguka’s Pete and Njoro wa Uba produced by Lucy Mwangi have the highest number of nominations each featuring in three categories respectively. Pete has been nominated in the Best Lead Actress in a TV Drama, Best Performance in a TV Comedy and Best TV Drama categories, while Njoro wa Uba has also been nominated for the Best Lead Actor in a TV drama, Best Lead Actress in a TV Drama and Best TV Drama categories. The nominations also feature Varshita!, Nyanya Rukia, Kina and Selina, all top shows on Maisha Magic East and Maisha Magic Plus.
Gripping series Crime and Justice on Showmax also made the cut with Alfred Munyua being nominated in the Best lead Actor in a TV Drama category, Sarah Hassan featuring in the Best Lead Actress category and the series being nominated in the Best Drama Category.

Egna, a film from Ethiopia by Yoseph Baye and Fisehatsion Nibret and Engaito produced by Talemwa Pius, Isiko Abubaker, Daisy Masembe & Victoria Nakimbowa have been nominated under the Best International Award – East Africa, while Rebirth, produced by Kenya’s Maurice Muendo has been nominated in the Best Original Score category.

Kalasha TV and Film Awards are an annual celebration by the Kenya Film Commission (KFC). KFC is a state corporation under the Ministry of Information Communication, Innovation and Youth Affairs charged with the development, promotion and marketing of the film industry locally and internationally by identifying and facilitating the growth of the film industry.
Maisha Magic is an authentic 100% local production platform running on GOtv and DStv with no foreign content running on either of the channels. Maisha Magic airs exclusively on GOtv Channel 4 and DStv Channel 158. Maisha Magic Plus is available to DStv customers on Compact, Compact Plus and Premium on Channel 163 as well as GOtv Supa customers on Channel 8.
