HUAWEI WiFi WS5200: A wireless router with gigabit speed, dual-core and parental control

People have a love-hate relationship with Wi-Fi. Even though we can’t think about a world without wireless internet, it is not as reliable or fast as wired connections. On the other hand, top-end wireless systems are often prohibitively expensive for home users.

But the new HUAWEI WiFi WS5200 is here to change it once and for all. It is a fast 1200 Mbps router with integrated Dual-frequency offering a wider coverage using four high-performance antennas. The HUAWEI WiFi WS5200 is available in Kenya for a retail price of Kshs Kshs 4,999.

Gigabit network ports featuring 1200 Mbps dual-band Wi-Fi

Equipped with full gigabit network ports and 1200 Mbps dual-band Wi-Fi, the new HUAWEI WiFi WS5200 allows for broadband access with up to 500 Mbps of bandwidth. This router, therefore, resolves the persistent issues for 100Mbps network ports that cannot provide full-speed network access when the bandwidth is above 100 Mbps due to insufficient throughput capabilities.

A Dual-core 800 MHz CPU for Powerful Performance

Compared to its predecessor, which packs a single-core 1 GHz CPU, the HUAWEI WiFi WS5200 has upgraded the simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz dual-band Wi-Fi performance by 40%. This performance boost is made possible by the dual-core 800 MHz CPU and the dual-band Wi-Fi chip. For single-core CPU routers, the CPU usage is usually 50% or higher when the number of connected devices reaches 10, often causing the router to freeze or crash. By comparison, the CPU usage for dual-core CPU routers is generally maintained at about 15% when 10 devices are connected. This results in a more stable connection and, in turn, more peace of mind.

Dual-frequency integrated and auto-selection

Compared to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, which offers stronger wall penetration capabilities and wider coverage, but at a lower speed, 5 GHz Wi-Fi features lower latency and faster speeds. But 5 GHz Wi-Fi can only be used within a comparatively short range. A router that supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi and allows for switching between the two frequency bands offers users a consistently superior network connection.

However, designers of most dual-band routers on the market seemingly fail to account for consumer priorities, providing separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks that require the user to manually switch between the two signals, leading to continual irritation and inconvenience. Additionally, it’s not always clear to users when 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi would be optimal, and the switching process involves a high degree of imprecise trial and error.

The HUAWEI WiFi WS5200 integrates 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into a single Wi-Fi network. So, connected devices can seamlessly switch to the frequency band, offering a faster connection based on the real-time location.

Four 5dBi high-performance antennas, providing wider coverage

Four 5 dBi high-performance antennas are configured on HUAWEI WiFi WS5200 to deliver optimal signal coverage. This antenna array can fully meet the requirements of small and medium-sized homes that occupy about 100 square meters. Boasting Huawei’s Wi-Fi chipset and low-density parity-check (LDPC) weak signal error correction algorithm, the router is able to work even when under interference.

Works seamlessly with HUAWEI AI Life app

Furthermore, the HUAWEI WiFi WS5200 is compatible with the HUAWEI AI Life app, providing easy configuration and management. The user can view the router status, check connected devices, set access rate limits, change Wi-Fi modes, as well as manage parental control, guest Wi-Fi, and scheduled power on/off. The HUAWEI WiFi WS5200 offers an easier way to manage the router, and makes the smooth network connection an everyday reality.
