HUAWEI nova 9 SE: Unboxing the new model in the Huawei nova 9 series

When unboxing the HUAWEI nova 9 SE smartphone, the first thing to notice are the few number of items it comes bundled with in the box. These include the device itself, the plastic cover, and the charger (consisting of the 2-pin 66W HUAWEI SuperCharger and Type-C charging cable). And that’s it for the accessories coming with device.

However, the relatively few items in the box should in no way mislead the user to assume that the device performs dismally once activated. This is because even though it comes at a comparatively cheaper cost (just shy of Kshs 40,000) unlike its predecessor, the HUAWEI nova 9 (launched at a retail price of Kshs 66,000 in mid-February this year), the HUAWEI nova 9 SE is definitely more advanced and comes equipped with a number of unique features and capabilities.

For a series that has been long known to focus on addressing the lifestyle needs of the youth segment of the market, with camera and photography at its core, and dedicating most of its R&D efforts on the design and technology of the models, the HUAWEI nova 9 SE doesn’t disappoint.

Without getting into a detailed analysis of the HUAWEI nova 9 SE, let’s just take you through a quick run-through of the device’s key features and specs:

FullView Display with ultra-narrow bezels: Just like its predecessor, the HUAWEI nova 9 SE features a HUAWEI FullView Display with ultra-narrow bezels of just 1.05mm all round which then complements the model’s ultra-slim body, which is 7.94mm thin.

108MP high-res camera system: Because cameras (for capturing detailed photos and incredible video clips) has been a key focus of the nova being a youth-centric series, it’s only fair that the HUAWEI nova 9 SE comes with a 108MP quad-camera system.

The device’s 108MP AI Quad Camera system. It comprises of a 108MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP Bokeh lens, and a 2MP macro lens. With more pixels, the 108MP ultra-high-definition main camera (f/1.9 aperture) gives users more room to express their creativity while taking photos or shooting videos.

66W HUAWEI SuperCharge: With the HUAWEI nova 9 SE, users are assured of peace of mind as relates to lack of charge in the device as the smartphone can be fully charged in under 40 minutes with its 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge capability. For users with very limited free tie on their hands, it’s important to note that the HUAWEI nova 9 SE can attain a 60 per cent charge in just 15 minutes, or be fully charged in just 36 minutes, which is less than the 40 minutes we’d indicated earlier. According to Huawei, the battery has a 10 per cent higher capacity as well as a 5 per cent longer cycle life compared to the brand’s previous generation of batteries.

The above only provides a summary of the key features and capabilities of the HUAWEI nova 9 SE. Keep it here for a more comprehensive review in the coming days.
