CANEX WKND aims to connect Africa’s creatives with potential investors

CANEX WKND, organised by the African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) in partnership with the Government of Côte d’Ivoire, is scheduled to run as a 3-day gathering of creatives from across Africa and the diaspora, held in Abidjan between November 25-27, 2022.

The event will be an important milestone in Afreximbank’s implementation of the Creative Africa Nexus (CANEX) programme; a multi-faceted intervention aimed at supporting and developing Africa’s rapidly growing creative sector. CANEX WKND will have a strong focus on creating meeting and networking opportunities between creatives, but more importantly between creatives and buyers.

CANEX WKND 2022 aims to be a prominent gathering of creatives, potential investors, industry leaders, creative industry businesses and government representatives, enabling business to business and business to government networking and deal-making opportunities. Creatives will also have various opportunities to connect and engage with Africa and her diaspora’s leading voices in music, film, fashion, crafts, visual arts, literature, gaming, VR, sports and more.

The CANEX WKND programme will have a particular focus on the following verticals:​

  • Fashion Screen (Film, TV & Digital)
  • Music
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Literature
  • Performing Arts
  • Immersive Technologies & Design Sports .

The CANEX WKND Market has been specifically designed to bring together both emerging and independent creatives, as well as for larger brands and associations. All of the stands at CANEX WKND are made from fully recycled and recyclable materials and are environmentally sustainable. Stand options include the Basic EcoStand as well as the larger Showcase Pavilions of 54 m2.

CANEX WKND will see a range of smaller break-away sessions (and masterclasses) focused on topics across creative sectors. These sessions will be designed to address some of the challenges facing the regional Francophone creative environment. The Masterclass programming at CANEX WKND and beyond will provide a more hands on approach to learning.
