After their launch mid last month in the country, Samsung’s two new flagships in the Galaxy series – Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 – went on sale via pre-order on Thursday September 1, 2022 in Kenya.
For highlights, let’s start with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with 12GB RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. It is retailing at Kshs 256,999. Then there’s the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 that has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, available at a retail price of Kshs 142,999.
During the pre-order offer period, customers will get a number of additional gifts and accessories when they purchase the two Galaxy smartphones. For the Galaxy Z Fold 4, buyers will walk away with a phone cover, S-Pen, Samsung Care Plus, and 24-month warranty. Samsung has also partnered with Badili to offer trade in service where Kshs 25,000 will be topped up over the traded in phone value as well as Device financing with Aspira that will see consumers enjoy 0% interest rate for 6 months.
Those who opt for the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will on their part be gifted a clear slim phone cover, Samsung Care Plus, and a 24-month warranty. And when it comes to paying for the device, Galaxy Z Flip 4 buyers also have a trade-in option with Badili where Kshs 20,000 will be topped up over the traded-in phone value or opt for a device financing deal with Aspira that will see them enjoy 0% interest rate for 6 months.
Having Badili and Aspira as partners to offer flexible payment options for customers is welcome news and a real game-changer by Samsung, more so when one considers the retail price of the two new Galaxy models.
From Badili, customers are encouraged to Trade-In their current (and comparatively older) handsets and get an additional Kshs 20,000 on the residual value to purchase the Galaxy ZFlip4 and an additional Kshs 25,000 on residual value to purchase the ZFold4. And remember that the eligible Trade-In brands don’t have to be only Samsung models but other phones as well including Apple, Tecno, Infinix, Xiaomi and OPPO. Only Nokia and Huawei are the only notable absentees from the eligible models’ list.
With Badili payment and trade-in option, it therefore means that if a customer for example wants to trade-in an older Samsung S series phone, they will take it to Badili (at any of the retail stores) for review after which they will advise on its current value (or what it can fetch on resale). After the review and settling on the trade-in’s present value, the customer will be topped up Kshs 20,000 (for the Samsung Galaxy Flip) or Kshs 25,000 (for the Samsung Galaxy Fold). The remaining (or outstanding) balance of the actual cost will then be settled by the customer to conclude the purchase.
At Aspira, the buyers are encouraged to get either model of their choice and pay via instalments for 6 months. This means that one gets the phone but instead of a one-off payment of the total amount, he pays an agreed deposit, then settles the balance in 6 months, providing much-needed relief and also ensuring that they don’t strain their household’s financial resources by a single individual’s purchase. During the 6 months, the buyer is charged 0% on interest fees.
The Aspira instalments payment offer is available at any of the Samsung Experience Stores across the country and allows a buyer of Galaxy Z Flip4 (retailing at Kshs 142,999) to pay a 20% deposit (Kshs 28,600) as a down payment then later remit Kshs 19,100 monthly for 6 months or make a deposit of Kshs 51,400 (that’s 20% of Kshs 256,999) on Galaxy Z Fold4 followed by Kshs 34,270 monthly for 6 subsequent months.
