Design and Display

Available in two variants of Shimmer Black (which, as we’ve since come to find out is fingerprint hesitant) and Shimmer Gold, the Reno8 5G comes fitted with Dual Sony Flagship Sensors, has Ultra Night Video functionality, with 80W SUPERVOOC feature for faster charging capability.

In terms of design, the device comes in a streamlined unibody design, and is powered with MediaTek Dimensity 1300.

To power on the Reno8 5G, the user has to press and hold the Power Button (located on the right side of the device) together with the Volume Up Button (which is located on the left hand side of the device below the Volume Down Button, just like in the Reno6 5G).

On the front display, we’ve the Receiver at the centre and the Front Camera to the left. To the right side of the Receiver is the Proximity and Light Sensor, while the Screen Fingerprint is located at the bottom of the screen, at the centre.

Apart from the Volume and Power Buttons, we also have the Sub-microphone, USB (for charging and data transfer) and Earphone jack slot also at the bottom (side) of the device. Also situated at the bottom side of the phone is the Main microphone.

At the back of the phone, the user will find the two Rear Cameras, the Camera Flash, and the NFC sensor. Like in all Reno series models, the OPPO logo has been accorded the pride of place on the bottom right side at the back of the device. This basically completes the outer design of the Reno8 5G.

The OPPO Reno8 5G’s front screen comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio, and a 90Hz refresh rate for better and smooth graphics. Certified for Netflix HD and Amazon Prime Video HD, the Reno8 5G’s display is designed to enable users to have an exceptional video viewing experience.

Battery and Performance

To ensure that users have peace of mind without worrying about how the state of their phone battery may affect their overall productivity while attending to their day-to-day activities, the Reno8 5G has been fitted with a 4500 mAh battery with Reverse Charging capability (to enable it share power with user’s other lighter devices like wearables).

With its 80W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge feature, just 11 minutes of charging duration ensures that the battery is already 50% charged, while 5 minutes of charging can enable the user to have upto 2 hours of gaming time, without the battery being completely discharged. The comparatively less time spent charging the phone means that the user then has more time on their hands to engage more productive active activities without worry.

Overall, by adopting 80W SUPERVOOC with Battery Health Engine feature, the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor, and an upgraded Super-Conductive VC Liquid Cooling System, and ColorOS 12.1, the  Reno8 5G is designed to provide strong durability, reliable performance, and all-round smooth experience to users.

And with its 8GB of RAM (which can be virtually expanded to 11GB according to the need), and 256GB in storage capacity, we can without a doubt state that OPPO has decided to go all out with Reno8 5G in terms of performance and user experience.

Camera and videography

Even though we had highlighted the camera features in the previous post, let’s still reiterate here that the Reno8 5G is powered by Dual Sony Flagship Sensors and several AI-enhanced imaging features – including Ultra Night Video and Night Portrait capability. All these features and functionalities have been embedded into the new “Portrait Expert” in the Reno series to enable user to capture their best and unforgettable moments even in the least conducive of surroundings and locations.

Reno8 5G has further been equipped with additional innovative features to enhance its cameras’ overall imaging quality. For instance, the device’s AI Portrait Retouching functionality can recognize 193 facial detection points to support accurate video retouching, subsequently delivering natural portrait effects. Other features like Portrait Mode, Hyperlapse, and 960fps AI Slow-Motion capability all complement each other to enable the user create movie-like portraits, in their own unique style, like the “Portrait Expert” they aspire to be.

Of course, that’s not all. To experience the Reno8 5G in its entirety and try out all its incredible features, we urge you to take an online tour, head to the OPPO brand shop on Kilimall and order the device. Remember to thank us later after making the purchase.
