Redmi Note 12 series: Highlights of the new flagship from Xiaomi Kenya ahead of launch




On April 24, Xiaomi Kenya announced that its latest model in the Redmi Note series – the Redmi Note 12 – would debut in the local market in the first week of May.

The Redmi Note 12, according to the pre-launch release, will feature the latest technology and become one of the most powerful smartphones in its mid-range price segment.

Though aiming at the mid-segment, the new model in the Redmi Note series is expected to come fitted with a number of flagship specs and features in terms of camera, screen display, battery life and charging efficiency.

And talking of the (notable) specs and features of the Redmi Note 12 series, below are a few highlights:

Design and Display

First off, the Redmi Note 12 series will be available in three colour variants of Onyx Gray, Ice blue, and Mint Green. Measuring 165.66×75.96×7.85mm with a weight of 183.5g, more or less like its predecessor whose models weighed between 179g and 202g. In terms of screen display, the Redmi Note 12 series models are fitted with 6.67″ AMOLED DotDisplay screens with a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen has a 2400 x 1080 resolution with Sunlight display and Reading mode as added aesthetics (or additional features).

Camera:   

For Xiaomi fans who double up as smartphone photography enthusiasts, it’s worth noting that the Redmi Note 12 series devices has a lot to offer in camera specs – that is a 50MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide camera, and 2MP macro camera. And when it comes to recording moments for later viewing and sharing, the Redmi Note 12 has a rear camera with a video recording capability to capture clips with a 1080 pixel resolution. When it comes to taking selfies, the Note 12 series has a 13MP front camera with a video recording capability of 1080 pixel in terms of resolution.

Battery

Like the Redmi Note 11, the Redmi Note 12 series devices will come fitted with a 5000mAh battery, which assures the user of long battery life, thereby giving them the necessary peace of mind while using the device as they won’t panic about the phone going out of charge even with extensive use. With 33W fast charging ability, the user can also rest easy as the device takes just slightly over an hour to achieve full capacity when plugged in to charge.

Processor, Storage and Performance
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 processor, the Redmi Note 12 series devices are expected to deliver superior performance to the users. With an internal storage capacity of 128GB (which is expandable to 1TB), the series will feature models with 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB capacity of RAM (depending one the buyer’s preference) for efficient functioning of the devices.
The Redmi Note 12 series will be unveiled through a virtual event to be livestreamed on Xiaomi Kenya‘s Facebook page on Tuesday May 2, 2023 from 6pm.

The Redmi Note 12 is the successor to the Note 11, launched in the local market in the first quarter of last year. The Note 11 series featured three devices: Redmi Note 11 Pro, Redmi Note 11S and Redmi Note 11. The Redmi Note 11 series had models ranging price from Kshs 20,000 to Kshs 35,000 (for the Redmi Note 11 pro).
