Nairobi set to host inaugural innovation symposium on retail insurance




The Association of Kenyan Insurers (AKI), in strategic collaboration with Caava VantagePoint AI (CVPAI) are set to host a conference and innovation symposium aimed at revolutionizing the retail insurance sector through the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML).

Slated for May 9 – 10, 2024 at the Emara, Ole Sereni Hotel, Nairobi, the event is set to be a landmark gathering for the insurance sector players in Kenya.

Building on the success of the inaugural event in February this year, which attracted 40 C-Suite executives from the insurance industry, including CEOs, CIOs, and COOs, the upcoming conference seminar will explore the implementation and adoption of strategies crucial for propelling the industry forward.

In collaboration with the Conference, AKI and CVPAI participants have been invited to take part in an exhilarating and exceptional AKI AI Innovation Challenge. The competition aims to revolutionize the insurance sector by harnessing the advanced capabilities of AI.

“The AI Challenge is part of the activities leading up to the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Seminar slated for 9th and 10th May in Nairobi. With the rapid advancement of AI and ML technologies, the insurance industry stands on the cusp of a profound transformation. “Our objective for the seminar is to catalyse the adoption of AI and ML innovations by the insurance industry to transform retail insurance products and insurance operations from pricing, underwriting, to distribution and even claims management,” said AKI Executive Director, Tom Gichuhi.

Participation has been narrowed down to one corporate team per entry and they will be challenged in data analysis, uncovering insights, and craft compelling, AI-driven solutions to enhance accessibility, efficiency, and personalization in insurance products and services.

The challenge will offer unique benefits including enabling participants to showcase innovation by presenting solutions to a panel of industry leaders and AI experts, win attractive prizes for the most innovative and impactful proposals, educate and engage with workshops and webinars designed to elevate your understanding and application of AI in insurance and to network and collaborate with the aim of connecting with peers, industry professionals, and potential mentors or investors.

Submissions will require a comprehensive report with presentation detailing insights, complete with visualizations and strategic recommendations.

The second phase will include live competition and winner selection followed by feedback on preparing live presentations and live demonstrations when finalists present their solutions live at the seminar. Finally, the judging and feedback panel will provide feedback based on effectiveness, innovation, and potential impact.
