TECNO Mobile moves to the aid of Korogocho flood victims

TECNO, a leading mobile technology company, has joined forces with local leaders in relief efforts to support communities affected by the recent raging floods in Kenya.

In response to the floods, TECNO delivered essential items including food supplies, beddings, and non-essential materials such as water bottles for storage. “Our aim was to provide immediate relief and support to those in dire need,” said Wilfred Odera, the IMC Manager, TECNO Mobile-Kenya.

“The recent floods in Kenya, which have displaced over 300,000 people according to the Kenya Red Cross, have affected many, “including our own team. A colleague in Syiokimau lost valuable property and was evacuated by the Red Cross. This personal connection to the disaster spurred us into action, reinforcing our resolve to support not only our colleagues but also Kenyans at large,” said Odera.

The feedback from the beneficiaries has been heartening, with one recipient expressing: “TECNO is a blessing. I had no monthly supplies of food for my family but this token has improved my livelihood and I look forward to another day. Our latest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative is a testament to this commitment, inspired by our responsibility to make a tangible impact on society.”

“We are cognisant of the impact of the raging floods on so many Kenyans across the country. It has been a challenging ordeal for the families that were affected,” said Wilfred Odera, IMC Manager, TECNO Mobile-Kenya.

The mobile technology company revealed that it is building on its commitment to community support and has planned additional CSR initiatives. Starting in July, the company will embark on stadium renovations to promote football in Kenya, fostering local talent and encouraging youth participation in sports.

TECNO’s dedication to societal impact is long-standing. In February, the company partnered with Dennis Oliech to promote a football training camp for under-15s, following the successful Africa Cup of Nations campaign. The initiative, held in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Nyeri, was aimed at nurturing young talent and fostering a love for the sport.

“At TECNO, we believe in the power of giving back and are committed to creating a lasting positive impact on the communities we serve,” said Odera.
