What’s the Premier League without a rivalry? Gear up to watch the crunching clash that awaits between Manchester United and Chelsea at Old Trafford on GOtv!

As the two teams prepare to face each other on Sunday, 3 November, let’s take a look at what we can expect from the two English powerhouses as they go head-to-head for the bragging rights!

Match background

Both teams are technically still trying to find themselves, as they undergo a “transitional” period. With Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal gunning for the title in recent times, these two have got work to do in order to get back to their best.

Manchester United have just announced the sacking of Erik ten Hag, who kept his job after winning the FA Cup. But so it seems, he didn’t exactly deliver on what was promised and now it’s a big task for former player and interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy to get the result.

What the teams are saying

Funny enough, former United player and pundit Gary Neville kind of saw it coming because he predicted that if his team loses against Chelsea, it’s over for ten Hag.

“It’s a sobering time because the feeling was after winning the FA Cup final and investing well, having a more smooth transfer window, that now it’s looking like here we are again at that moment where it’s going badly wrong,” he said on Sky Sports.

“It’s getting to that point where it’ll become unbearable, the pressure in this next week or two around Erik ten Hag.”

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says he’s pleased with the progress made by his team this season but is not getting ahead of himself.

“The target is to improve and slowly, slowly to get closer to those clubs [title challengers like Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool], but at the moment we are not ready for that. There is no time frame because you can continue to improve and add solutions to things always,” he says.

Players to watch

Amad Diallo, Manchester United

The Ivorian has been on the sidelines because of his former manager’s decisions. Will he get a chance to shine and fully break into the first team with the managerial changes that await?

Jadon Sancho, Chelsea

The player made a move to Chelsea in the beginning of the season, and he’ll have a point to prove to his former club and teammates that he’s just as capable as anyone else. Looks like GOtv viewers are in for a cracker.

Head-to-head

In head-to-head stats, United and Chelsea have met in 195 matches across all competitions, dating back as far as 1905. The Red Devils have claimed 83 wins compared to 56 for the Blues, while 56 games have been drawn.
