
Low-cost airline Jambojet has won big at the Aviation Challenge, being selected as the Best Collaboration in Customer Engagement during this year’s ceremony, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The award underscored the airline’s exceptional efforts in building meaningful and lasting relationships with customers and stakeholders.
The judges recognized the airline’s innovative and personalized approach to customer engagement, which leverages technology and in-person interactions to educate and call for passengers to take individual action to drive sustainability.
Jambojet was also complimented for including sustainability in their annual survey, conducting a sustainability quiz, seedling distribution during Mazingira Day, tree planting, and organic menu tasting.

Jambojet participated in the 2024 Aviation Challenge with 3 flights: Nairobi – Goma – Nairobi, Mombasa – Eldoret – Kisumu – Mombasa and Nairobi – Lamu – Nairobi, implementing various solutions in its operations to assess progress in its sustainability efforts.
The Aviation Challenge is an initiative by SkyTeam that calls for airlines to come together in a friendly competition to collaborate and learn from each other to accelerate innovation towards a sustainable future.
Jambojet is a regional low-cost airline that flies to 9 destinations from its primary hub in Nairobi – Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to Mombasa, Eldoret, Kisumu, Malindi, Ukunda (Diani), Lamu, and Goma in Eastern DRC. The airline also operates three routes from its secondary hub in Mombasa to Kisumu, Eldoret, and Zanzibar- launched on 1st July 2024, flying 4 times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. It also has Cargo operations across its network.
The airline, launched in April 2014, became the only low-cost carrier in Kenya to be awarded the coveted IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA registration) in July 2019. IOSA is an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess an airline’s safety, operational management and control systems.
In August 2018, Jambojet was ranked the top airline in Africa with the youngest fleet by global aviation intelligence provider ch-aviation. The airline is also the 2018 and 2019 winner of the De Havilland Canada Reliability Award for outstanding performance in dispatch reliability on the Dash 8-400 series in Africa and the Middle East. Since its inception, Jambojet has enabled affordable air travel for all, with first-time flyers accounting for about 44% of its customers.
In the 10 years of operations, the airline has achieved undeniable business growth; with a fleet comprising 8 brand new De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400, flown over 7.5 million passengers. This number grows as more travelers appreciate the benefits of low-cost flying and the airline expands its regional network.
